Following months of lobbying from the FederaFollowing months of lobbying from the Federation of Small Businesses, the Government has now announced their Enterprise Finance Guarantee initiative. The Small Business Finance Scheme will see the amount of £1.3 billion made available to small businesses in an attempt to support them through the tough credit climate.

The Enterprise Finance Guarantee was put live on January 14th 2009, and will consist of the following:

•    Guaranteed loans up to 75%
•    Loans will range from 3 months to 10 year maturity
•    To qualify, businesses must have a turnover of no more than £25 million
•    Loans will be provided between £1,000 and £1 million

All major high street banks will be taking part in the Enterprise Finance Guarantee, including Barclays, Clydesdale/Yorkshire Bank, HBOS, HSBC, Lloyds TSB, RBS/NatWest, and Northern Bank.
